Description
The Horizon Wind Energy Kit allows students to build their very own miniature power generation system that converts wind into electrical energy. In order to create a mini real-working wind turbine, students can first calculate the pitch (angle setting) of the 9 profiled turbine blade, discovering what the optimum number of blades is necessary for generating electricity. The nine blades include 3 types of profiled blades based on NASA aeronautics and 1 type of poly-propylene sheet blade -- students will be challenged to guess and trial out various blade quantities and types to find a perfect balance of wind resistance, weight, and angle. Kit comes with complete wind energy curriculum for teachers/students and covers vertical and horizontal axis turbines. . .all in a realistic, hands-on wind turbine experimentation!
