About This Item

Description

Learning the social skills needed for positive relationships with peers is key during elementary school years. Friendship Island® from Franklin Learning Systems is an educational game specifically designed to teach these skills to students. The game focuses on the three important areas of friendship: making friends, being a good friend, and resolving disagreements in a win-win way. The gameplay is designed to encourage cooperation as players help each other and answer questions about friendship to win points. The game is a great resource for children who are shy or socially delayed and creates a supportive environment where they can discuss challenges and questions they may not feel comfortable verbalizing otherwise. In order to be challenging and fun for a range of players, the Friendship Island® box contains two different games. One game is designed for grades 1 and 2, and the second game is designed for grades 3 and 4. The principles of friendship emphasized in both versions of the game include sharing, being a good listener, taking into account the needs of a friend, the importance of talking out problems, and more skills that children will use into adulthood. The game can be played with 2 to 6 players, and even more when forming teams.
