Students analyze macroinvertebrate species, hair samples, glass samples, lip prints, DNA data, and other assorted clues as they try to deduce why someone would have attacked Jen while she was taking samples at Crystal Creek. This cross-curricular kit even engages middle school students in an engineering design project with design modifications. Includes materials for 30 students, digital teacher’s manual, student worksheets, fake Facebook pages, suspect videos, and answer keys. May be completed as a cross-curricular unit in 5 days or extended to a year-long project, afterschool club or summer camp. Requires a microscope, not included. Grades 6-8.
